Pastor Anietie Ukpe is the Director General, Akwa Ibom
Broadcasting Corporation, where he is managing and administering the operations
of both the radio and television services of the corporation. Before his
current assignment, the amiable media practitioner was Senior Special Assistant
(Media) and Chief Press Secretary to Senator Godswill Akpabio when he was
governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Over the years Anietie is known for excellence, since he
assumed the position of Director General, Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation,
he has set the vision and operational objectives of the corporation in line
with government policies and expectations. Being a journalist by profession,
Anietie Ukpe has been overseeing and coordinating the activities of the
different departments and units of the corporation.
The astute administrator can be referred to as a welfarist
because since he came on board as Director General, he has been seeing to the
welfare of the about 400 staff of the corporation.
Among the numerous awards he has received include: PR
Personality of the year 2015, Nigeria Media Nite Out award; Distinguished
Achievement in Poetry Award by the International Library of Poetry, Owing
Mills, United States (2005); Editor’s Choice Award 2003 by the International
Library of Poetry, Owing Mills, United States in respect of the Poem “The
Candle” published in the Anthology, “The Best Poems and Poets of 2002”; Editor’s
Choice Award 2003 by the International Library of Poetry, owing Mills, United
States in respect of the Poem “The Process of Time” published in the Anthology,
“A food of Contentment”; Award of Excellence Performance in the Nigerian Public
Service by the Chartered Institute of Public Administrators of Nigeria.
Anietie Ukpe is a fellow, Chartered Institute of Leadership;
Member, Nigerian Union of Journalists; Member, Nigeria Institute of Public
Relations, Member, Chartered Institute of Administrators of Nigeria.
He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Insight Bible
Church and ordained a minister of the gospel by the late Archbishop Benson
Idahosa in 1995.
