Jamiu Abiola Reintroduces ‘The President Who Never Ruled’ on June 12

Alhaji Abdul Jamiu Abiodun Abiola

Among the activities that took place at the last celebration of June 12 at late MKO Abiola Lagos home was the re-introduction of an outstanding book that chronicled the life and times of the late politician and business mogul.  The book is titled “The President Who Never Ruled”, written by
Alhaji Abdul Jamiu Abiodun Abiola, one of the sons of acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election.

Among the questions the book answers include: Who is the man called MKO? His growing up and how he surmounted the obstacles that surrounded his poor background to become one of the successful entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
The book also throws more light on how he got into the presidential race plus how his friends and even the international community reacted to his ordeal when the election was annulled.
These and other untold revealations are what Alhaji Abdul Jamiu Abiodun Abiola, has come out with in what can be described as the first family account of the birth-to-death biography of the late presidential aspirant of Social Democratic Party (SDP) whose election was annulled by the military junta of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
It would be recalled that Jamiu Abiola, a multi-linguist and businessman who has authored two other books in the past disclosed that the reasons for writing the book was to correct some terrible insinuations about his late father whom he described as a ‘valuable vessel of democracy in Nigeria’ and also as his own way of immortalizing a man who meant a lot to him.

One may ask whether Jamiu actually achieved his aim, the answer is yes  as Jamiu Abiola in the 44 chapters book divided into three parts rightly corrects the wrongs or half-truths and assumptions by many about his late father. Indeed the book is a complete compilation of life and times of late MKO Abiola and a must read for every lover of democracy.
